BOISE, Idaho\u2014Idaho General Fund revenue exceeded the state\u2019s forecast by $90.3 million during the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, finishing 6.8% above projections.<\/p>\n
September revenue alone came in $39 million above forecast, with individual income tax collections accounting for much of the strength.<\/p>\n
Individual income tax revenue is running 18.3% above forecast year to date, driven in part by a sharp increase in withholding collections.<\/p>\n
Withholding revenue grew 20% during the first quarter compared with the same period last year, up from growth of 2.8% in fiscal 2026 and 5.9% in fiscal 2025.<\/p>\n
Gov. Brad Little said the results reflect continued strength in Idaho\u2019s economy but cautioned that the state should remain disciplined in its spending.<\/p>\n
Sales tax collections totaled $215.1 million in September, bringing year-to-date collections to $617.4 million. Online marketplace sales were particularly strong, increasing 23.4% during the first quarter compared with a year earlier.<\/p>\n
Revenue performance was not uniformly positive. Corporate income tax collections were $10.2 million, or 7.9%, below forecast, while sales tax collections were also slightly below forecast year to date.<\/p>\n
State officials said they will continue monitoring revenue trends and economic conditions as the fiscal year progresses.<\/p>\n
The report comes as Idaho continues to balance ongoing spending commitments with priorities including public schools, transportation, infrastructure and public safety.<\/p>\n
The September report is the final monthly revenue update scheduled before the Nov. 2 election.<\/p>\n
